It all went cuhrazy.

Disclaimer: A lot of these I got on model mayhem, because I found it to be really handy to have a search box for ages, ethnicity, height, ect. If this is your picture on here and you want it taken down, please let me know. (I figure hardly anyone will view these so I don't anticipate this.)

I decided to do a couple character pictures, but rather than separate them all, I decided to put them all into one big post, which I call The Seattle World. (I need a better name.) This just refers tot he fact that I started connecting a lot of my stories, all the one-shots and Glances Into the Minds of the Unfortunate, so I figured they could all go together.

To start, here is The Way To A Man's Heart is Clearly Food Analogies!

Jezebelle

The only picture (besides Riley) that you can feel free to completely view Belle as because, as I've mentioned before, Belle is based (mostly physically) off one my best friends who I've known since I was 10. Her name is Velva and she is gorgeous, as you can tell. I made Belle a tad bit taller than her, but Velva is about 4'10" I believe. Stinking cutie. Maybe I'm biased, but I think people will agree.

Velva is an incredibly talented artist too. I just love her. Yes, she is half Filipino. In all these pictures she looks really somber, minus the last at least, but these were all done by people at her art school if I heard correctly, and as such she's modeling. (So I don't take credit for these pictures. I should really ask her who took them.) Belle is way weirder than Velva is, but she still has a very kooky, weird sense of humor that initially inspired the character. I don't think anyone in the world is as weird as Belle, though.

Want more? She has a model mayhem site. Go here!

Andrei

Andrei was pretty difficult to find because of his nationality. There are not a whole lot of (young) Russian actors or models, and if there are, they do not remotely look like Andrei. There's also the fact that I he broke his nose once, so that reflects itself clearly. So rather than give you one picture, here's a couple.

The nose: The actor who has the PERFECT nose to what I was thinking is Enver Gjokaj from Dollhouse. He looks a little like this:

But the rest of him I tend to imagine a little bit more like any of these guys. (The first I liked because he's wearing a black t-shirt, hah.)

Cait
So I based Cait off of a girl I did a high school play with, but she moved away and I haven't spoken with her in a long time. Of course I was too embarrassed to even ask if I could use a picture of her, but then I saw her on model mayhem so I was kind of like, "Well, that works." So Kori, if you ever see this, hopefully you don't mind.

Moving on to...Get Mad, Baby

Devonny
Okay, so I know Ginnifer Goodwin is too old to be Devon, but she's got that really naturally-cute vibe that I always pictured Devon to have. So I tried finding the youngest looking picture of her possible. I'm a big GG fan. I love her to death.

Peter

Peter, like Devon, is older than imagined, but I figure, if I'm using an older actress for her, might as well do the same for him. This actor (who, upon watching American Beauty, I thought, "Looks like Peter to me") is named Wes Bentley. I tried to find one with stubble because that's a big quality of Peter.

Ryan

Next is Marina Guerrero and Terrible, Horrible No-Good Very Bad Date

Marina
Another Model Mayhem. I couldn't decide between these two. The first girl would be an almost perfect Marina save for the fact that she isn't very Hispanic looking. (Which the girl is.) The second picture is more fitting except for the hair. (I also enjoyed the second because the girl I chose for Alita is very similar looking.)

Owen
Ah poop, I can't get off bold. Well, ignore the random bold text here.

I have this intense love for Jospeh Gordon-Levitt, I think he is beautiful and so adorable in a nerdy sense, and so it was pretty easy to interject him into a character, and I found a picture of him with glasses, so there you go. Plus, Owen is such a romantic, and JGL, in 500 Days of Summer, is the same. I thought it was fitting. c:

Alita
Alita was fun. (And yes, Riley is named after Taylor, too. Both are ambiguous, either-gender names.) Taylor allowed me to use a picture of her, so that was very sweet of her.

She maintains that she never takes mirror pictures usually, but she wanted a picture of her hair before the curls died.

Logan

Ray

This isn't really what I picture Ray to be in my head, but I thought it would be a fairly accurate portrayal. This guy actually is Hispanic (Well, according to his last name/ethnicity listing on modelmayhem) and does look it a bit in other pictures, but in these he's pretty much a white boy.

Ren

This guy is probably a little better looking than Ren actually is, but hey, if I wanted it to be perfect I would be an artist. (He is not Ukrainian. He takes after Peter in that aspect.)

He wears a suit to class almost all the time. Of course there are days that he doesn't. Today he wore a black t-shirt. I found that particularly fitting. He's quiet as well. Very Andrei like.

But he smokes. And has very dark features. Kind of tough. Like, honestly, when I first saw him, he scared me a little. But thankfully he got a hair cut and cleaned up a bit.

However he is also completely not like them in personality. I've only talked to him once, but the only thing he said to me was (In response to why he was not voting for Obama) "My family is rich, and I don't want to lose money." I thought that was a rather lame reason for making a political choice.

Failed NaNoWriMo

As the subject says, I completely failed NaNoWriMo. To my credit, a lot of this was due to A, a ridiculously lousy class where my teacher has failed at teaching us because he had surgery, so I spent about 2 weeks in November studying to try and catch up, and B, the fact that I got my wisdom teeth out three days ago, and as soon as I start concentrating on one thing for more than 5 minutes, I start falling asleep. (So fair warning, this blog might turn into "And so then I wasssssssssssssssssssssss"...)

I also screwed up by trying to write my Greek story in the wrong tone. I went for a more depressing opening, which just screwed me up for the rest of the story. It's a lot harder for me, also, because I've never written a story with a plot line, let alone 4 books of plot line. Usually I have a general idea of what I want the story to be, but the characters, the situations, they all come as I write. I don't like planning stories out. I have all this pressure to make sure everything is put in, to make sense for the later books. This is very difficult for me, but good practice.

I'm also working on another one-shot, which has been coming along much smoother than the Greek story. (And already have another one-shot planned for a continuation of this "world" I'm creating, which is good.)

Ah...just like I suspected, I'm getting very tired again. So I'm going to leave this blog on a "Uhhh, what?" note because I'm all drugged up.

NaNoWriMo

Did I spell that right? NaNoWriMo? I think that's it.

Well, regardless, I'm trying to do it this year, so I apologize if updates are scarce. I'm not doing so well though, already. I'm only at about 2000 words, on Day 6. (After I post this I'm going to try and write out a good 2000 more or something. Hopefully.)

Writing my Greek story is not coming to me as easy as my other stories have. I'm not sure if it's because I feel a certain pressure with it, but it's difficult. And everything I write is just awful, I think. It doesn't have the same flow as my others stories.

Right now I'm just trying to concentrate on writing whatever comes to mind, and fixing it later. If I get it all out, I can always edit it later.

Easier said than done, however, because I'm quite the perfectionist.

Wish me luck! <3<3

Basing characters off people you know. Nay or Yay.

Okay. So the last time I updated was Spring Quarter, which is terrible. It is now Fall quarter. (By the way, I never ended up taking Creative Writing. I decided I didn't want that teacher.)

I never used to write characters based off people I know, but more and more recently it's been popping up. It started with the character Devonny from "Get Mad, Baby", which is, essentially, based off myself (Sadly) in my Junior-Senior year of High School. I have since become more of a Kaylehn, which will be popping up in my next one shot. (Not as a main character, mind you.)

But then came Belle, which was Velva, and in the next one-shot, which will be Riley and Logan, if you wonder, both are based off my best friend Taylor and a friend Sean. (Loosely, loosely based on Sean.)

I have heard this is kind of a taboo. A lot of authors don't like doing this, especially since there's this whole issue of your friend finding out and not liking how you portray them. I think, in general, I would not do this in a novel. Because you have to put your characters through situations and force them to do things that aren't necessary fun to read (or write), and a friend might get offended.

One-shots, however, I don't really feel is such a bad thing. Also, lucky for me, I have great friends who trust me when I say that they are only loosely based on them, and in no way am I saying that this is how I view them.

Is this post making any sense? I was really excited, mostly because it's been a dream of mine to take it, and what could be more fun then a class where the homework is writing?

Oh. Um. How about 2 hours of analyzing 6 different haiku's, each with different translations. Oh wait. No. That wasn't fun at all.

Don't get me wrong, I admire people who write poetry. I think it's extremely difficult, and some of it is really beautiful. It's just not my thing.

I hate writing poetry. I've knocked out a few things here and there when I'm feeling extra emotional or depressed, but there's only been four lines that I actually liked. (Note: I see the rocks we picked on the shore of that river/where we kissed in the open/because it would be the last time for a month/which ended up being forever) But other than that there has been very few times I've enjoyed poetry.

Which is why this class is a bit disappointing to me. My teacher is a poet. He says he's alright at short stories, but he's really into poetry. And we'll be doing it for 6 weeks, supposedly, which is most of the quarter. Although he did say we can bring things to him whenever we want, regardless of whether or not we're studying it at the time, and he'll critique it.

But that's what also unnerves me. I have a hard time visualizing myself bringing a short story like Get Mad, Baby to my older male poet-teacher and saying, "Enjoy." I'm not so sure he would enjoy reading a story regarding love and teenage emotions, which is what I write.

I'm nervous about presenting what we write to the class as well. I mean, some writers can be extremely hoighty-toighty. You know what I mean? Those kids that sit and write out proverbial rants about life and it's meaning, and when you say you write they ask, "Oh, what about?" And it's a peculiar feeling to say, "Oh, romance. Teen romance. Basically I like Young Adult...with hints of more mature happenings."

I'm never going to write anything culture changing. I don't think I would want to. If I ever publish a book, which I will eventually so-help-me-God, I hope it would appeal to the older teenage (even younger) audience. Because I love books like that, and I'm nearing my last year as a teenager. And I think girls at that age really need books where you have just a good romance story, or maybe a story with a main character that is easy to relate to, because girls need something to...relate to. (Note: If you're feeling ambitious, try and find another word than "relate to" later, Devonny-Darling.)

I'm starting to ramble about things that really...don't need to be rambled about. Pardon me.

Character Pictures

Alright, so I promised that I would post pictures of people that I thought looked like some of my characters. But here's the problem. No one does. (Except Eiden. But that's because he was based off the said celeb.) So instead I thought to myself, "Hey, Self, your stories will never be made into movies, but let's be hypothetical and pretend they are. So instead of finding people who look exactly like your characters, [-Eiden] why don't you find people who you think would be fun to play them in a live action?"

And then I thought, "Brilliant, Self! You are one smart chika!" (Note: I don't speak Spanish. Did I spell chika right? Si? No?)

So that's what I did. So, low and behold, here is characters from To Stay Below The Sea.

Arisa

Arisa was the hardest, mostly because of her hair color. Most red-heads either look extremely slutty, or not pretty. And I never viewed Arisa as being Victoria-Secret pretty, but more naturally beautiful.

Then I was browsing through pictures and saw one of my girl-crush, Zooey Deschanel, and thought, "I could see her being Arisa if her hair wasn't dark." And then I saw this picture and thought, "Eh, close enough."

Now, I know some of you may be thinking, "Ugh, she's not pretty" but to be fair that isn't really a good picture of her. I merely chose it because the hair color was somewhat similar and the dress reminded me a tad of a mermaid. So here's another picture. (Which could fit Arisa post chapter 20.)

Eiden

I've mentioned this before but I'll do it once more. Eiden is the only character where I've based him off of a real-life person, in terms of looks at least. And, it's strange, because I never was a big fan of this guy, (My best friend has him plastered over her walls, though. Maybe that's where I got to know him.) but when I thought of Eiden, I thought that Adam Brody really fit what I wanted. Kind of skinny, scruffy, a bit of a dork. Boyish cute.

Adam's gotten a little bit manlier over the years, but he's still Eiden in my heart. (Side note: I considered Kristen Stewart for Arisa for awhile, but ultimately decided against it. [She's going to be Bella in the Twilight movie, so I just can't think of her as anyone but Bella now.] But I thought it would be funny because she and Adam Brody were in a movie together. The second picture is from said movie, In the Land of Women, and seems like a very Arisa/Eiden moment. Plus...a little girl, I guess.)

Ian

Ian was pretty hard as well. Okay, who am I kidding. Every single character was hard except for Eiden. Ian was a bit harder though because, for some reason, when I think about Ian, I don't really have a mental picture. I know he's blond but other than that... So that's why he remains a bit un-described.

But I found this picture of Ben Foster and I thought, "Ah, yes, I could see Ian being him. Except he'd need to be more smiley."

Lena

I would love Lena to be played by, ironically enough, Ben Foster's girlfriend, Ellen Paige. She's kind of that personality that reminds me a lot of Lena. But, unfortunately, she does look a bit younger than I imagined Lena. (Then again, Lena is only 18.) So basically, Ellen Paige would be great, but perhaps just a tad bit older.

And just because this is cute and somehow fitting, a couple picture!

The Sorceress

I actually found this one fairly easy. I knew I wanted her to have very dark features, (Long dark hair, dark eyes, thick lashes) and a bit ethnic. Then I thought, "Oh, who else but Penelope Cruz?" (Although I did think Paz Vega, but she's just too sweet looking.)

Emily

Emily isn't perfect, the eyes are especially wrong, and Emmy Rossum has a bit harsher features then I would expect, but at the same time she's perfect. She strikes me as one of those girls who looks very sweet, but isn't. And that's Emily for you.

And there you have it. I can't really think of any other important characters. I suppose I could do the Queen and King, and Arisa's father, but...well, they're old and I don't feel like looking through pictures and pictures of old people.

Introduction of sorts

I wanted to make a cool blog that people might actually visit, but I can't think of anything to write about. I think it's just going to be crap, ranging from my writings, to fashion, to food, to dramas, to guys I have a crush on. Maybe some day I'll narrow it down to something in specific, like, food, but who knows.

So this is my blog. You may read (if you so choose) about writing, fashion, food, dramas, hot guys, or any other random things.

If you're reading this through fictionpress, why hello. This is Kaika N. I also go by Devonny Auriel. (Yeah, yeah, I know, I used that name in one of my stories. I was at a loss at the time and thought no one would read it.) In truth neither of those are my names, but I figure I'll never be able to use my real name because I have the same last name as another famous author. He and I write nothing alike, our genres are completely different, so I figure if I ever try to get published then I would avoid using my name because people may associate my stories with his. Which would be weird. I'm goofy romance, he's dark, twisted, sci-fi/murder mystery type.

Anyone else who reads this, err, hi. It may be Caitlin though. Hey Gubbins.
